What our visitors have to say...........

A hidden little gem for young and old
The children and adults will be fascinated with the shaky old mill which you can wander around at your leisure. Very educational and historical. You can buy flour on site. There is a wonderful tea room on site which has the most amazing wholesome food, great lunches and huge portions of afternoon tea cakes. My parents frequent it regularly and they are very fussy, so that's says a lot. You can access the Tea room without paying to go round the flour mill. There are also many little artisan workshops and galleries scattered around the cobbled yard area outside the mill. Well worth taking a look. Blacksmiths, glass makers, artists etc. There is a gift shop and a mill pond with a short walk. Again you can go and see the shops/workshops/galleries without paying an entrance fee. However at least once it is worth going round the flour mill. Parking on site.

This vegetarian cafe is set in beautiful surroundings within Caudwell Mill and Craft Centre. A wide selection of veggie food that will surely appeal to meat eaters too! The Homity Pie is fabulous and is served with an amazing "super salad". Hot food is served from midday and the staff offer a friendly and efficient service to ensure that all visitors are served without undue delay. Leave room for the yummy cakes or desserts and then work it off with a visit to the craft shops and a walk along the nearby riverside.
A great day out.

I regularly go for lunch at the cafe here and the food is fantastic! the people who run the cafe really think about their food and the variety is great too. They do lovely homemade cakes and great coffee. The staff are really friendly and the place is enchanting. There are lots of ducks and the odd swan so bring some bread when you come along. It’s really child friendly and situated in a nice part of the countryside.

Visited on holiday here on a grey November day but could easily see just how beautiful the area around the Mill with the stream would be on a sunny day. You wouldn't want to leave! Had a lovely lunch in the cafe - all fresh and healthy fare - and then a good wander round the shops. SO many nice things in the main shop with a tremendous selection of cards and some really great ideas for Christmas, both for presents and decorations. We didn't go in the mill but it looked very interesting. Just wish it was closer - I'd never be stuck for present ideas again.

Really enjoyable stop excellent meals and a great country craft centre. Really good to see the traditional metalworking skills being used in anger. Plus nice to see the mill working.

Scenic Tranquillity
Brilliant sunshine, a mill race, sheep and lambs nearby. A cafe serving feather-light cakes accompanied by a pot of flavourful tea and all this plus viewing a working water mill set some 30 minutes from the heart of Sheffield . Incredible! Obviously the weather played a vital part but the mill is worth a visit whatever, living history with the chance to sample the finished product. Great place to go and let the world pass you by.

Spent a morning here and what a brilliant place it is too! There is one particular shop with all sorts of gift ware in. Spent a fortune but have sorted out a lot of Christmas presents in there!! Some really great and special gifts available. Went and had lunch, what a fab place the restaurant is too. Fresh salads, home baked cakes, scones and quiches, lots of choice. It was all really tasty and amazing. You must go!

We visited Greehalgh Glass at the Mill. The glass art is beautiful, a lot based on the tree of life. I would love to have been able to take a piece home but luggage constraints stop me. I did buy a small plate that will be easy to keep safe, as well as some jewellery. If you love glass you will be blown away with the beauty.

We stopped at this place primarily for something to eat but with the word Craft in the title, it was a magnet for my wife. The car park is large and was reasonably busy on our visit. The short walk to the Mill was down a lovely path. We first encountered the blacksmith, busy in soaring temperatures. A lovely jewellery craft shop was next, then we came across the café and after eating we toured the mill, the highlights being all the craft shops with lovely produce, many of it local.

Loved this visit, been before and love how you can see people actually working the old trades that are too soon a forgotten thing.

We visited for a short afternoon before meeting others for tea and did not have enough to time to fit it all in.
So much to see and learn that I can hardly list it all here. We all loved every bit of the museum and the shops were brilliant for Christmas shopping!

Well signed with a good free car park and interesting local businesses showcasing locally produced crafts. A good, reasonable tearoom and a river walk in pleasant setting.

Having just had a wood burner fitted, I had been looking around for a fireside set that would be just right for my stone fireplace. I am so glad I came to the blacksmith at Caudwell’s Mill. I’ve got the most beautiful set with Derbyshire rams heads, fashioned in the forge, on a lovely hand worked stand. I’ve had so many complements about the set from family and friends. My husband bought me some lantern hanger poles for my birthday and they look fab In the garden.

I needed to replace the fabric and stuffing on an old bedding chest – not a big job and looking around the busy workshop, I thought I might have to wait for some weeks to get it done. However Andrew Whiting treated my small job with the same professional standards as for a large project and finished it in record time for me. The braid is just the right colour for the fabric and the work is absolutely tip top. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his work.

I am an inveterate recycler and it has been really good to find a talented kindred spirit. I purchased a lovely big clock and a coffee table for my cottage from Shaun Wallis and they look great in my slate and stone interior. I am thinking of a bedstead for later in the year. Everything in the workshop is sturdily made out of recycled wood – very pleasing.
