"I loved looking round the old mill : its like one giant Heath Robinson invention !"
There has been a mill on this lovely river site since the middle ages but our story begins in 1874 when John Caudwell erected the present building. Powered by a water wheel and later by a water turbine, the look inside the mill provides a unique opportunity to see the quirky, quaint and fascinating machinery. You get to hear it too, with its rhythmic rumbling of the water turbine and the whirring flour grinders, sifters and sievers. A range of flours for great baking is on sale : we have lots of regular customers, especially those who bake bread.
